The 2009 season is officially over. Book now for your Spring and Summer 2010 events!
In season, locally grown wedding flowers from April-October! Local pickup or delivery in the Batesville, MS area only. Flowers are available in-season and are grown using natural and organic growing methods right here in Batesville, MS. Advantages of locally grown fresh flowers:
-Supports the local economy – You know who is getting your business, and you know exactly where your dollar is going.
-Environmentally conscious – Flowers are not trucked or flown thousands of miles.
-Freshness – Flowers flown in from South America or California are shipped dry and have to be rehydrated. Locally grown flowers are never dry, thus the vase life is dramatically increased.
-Quality – Locally grown flowers are minimally handled and less likely to be damaged in transit.

If it can be grown from a seed or a bulb, I can probably grow it. Please e-mail with your needs and I will try to accomodate you. Custom growing or reserving of flowers will require a 50% deposit of the total cost. The cutting garden peaks June and July, so any events during that time will have a wide variety of flowers available. Sunflowers, black-eyed Susans and zinnias bloom well into the fall. If you have a last minute event, give me a call at 1-888-601-5943 and ask what’s blooming right now.

Detailed list Spring and Summer 2010 (links go to organizations/associations for that flower):
- Roses – I’m still working on building my rose collection and pampering my plants so they get bigger and produce more flowers. I don’t expect to have any available in 2010, but that could change. My specialty will be pink and bi-color roses.
- Bells of Ireland Moluccella laevis – Green only
- Daisies – Shasta, Black-eyed Susans, Painted daisies – Every color, bi-color and shade imaginable will be growing throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall. I’m even planning on a calendula (pot marigold) that looks like an orange gerber daisy without all the fuss. If you have a particular color you need, contact me now!
- Zinnia – ‘Benary’s Giants’ in red, fuchsia, purple, white, bright golden yellow, orange and pink
- Sunflowers Several varieties in gold, lemon, white and burgundy. If you need a particular variety or color, let me know and I’ll get the seed. Burgundy sunflowers are very popular for fall weddings! The earliest these will be available is June, but I plan to sow sunflowers continuously throughout the summer and have them available for cutting through October.
- Globe Amaranth – Gomphrena globosa in a mix of colors, mostly pink, white and purple. Great filler flowers.
- Carnations – Dianthus caryophyllus in every color imaginable.
- Lady’s Mantle Alchemilla mollis – A frothy yellow-green filler flower that is very popular in bouquets
- Asiatic Lilies – ‘Black Out’ – Deep wine red, almost black; ‘Dolly Madison’ – Bright magenta pink; ‘Pollyanna’ – Bright yellow with apricot flush and “freckles”; ‘Tropical Dream’ – Orange-red with yellow centers; ‘South Pacific’ – Creamy white with a small spattering of burgundy “freckles”
- Oriental Lilies – ‘Stargazer’ – An old favorite with pink to dark red petals edged in white
- Tulips – White – ‘Maureen’, ‘Purissima’, ‘Francoise’; Pink and bi-color - ‘Plant to Impress’ Darwin mixture, ‘Shirley’, ‘Angelique’ and a plain old pink tulip; Red – ‘Kingsblood’ and ‘Lambada’; Yellow – ‘Bellona’; Orange – ‘Best Seller’. These will have a limited availability in early-mid spring.
- Eryngium – A bright blue spiky flower that is great fresh or dried
- Ranunculus – Beautiful cut flower for bouquets. I’ll have plenty of white for weddings!
- Gladioli – Every color available will be growing and blooming from May until October.
- Sweet Peas – Beautiful, sweetly-scented flowers are perfect for wedding bouquets. I will have several different shades of pastels and solid white, as well as some streaked and brighter colors. Early spring until the heat kicks in.
- Scabious, or pincushion flower – Lots of different colors to choose from.
- Coleus – Why not try something different and include a few stems of coleus in your bouquets and reception decorations? Coleus foliage comes in a wide variety of colors and can really set your flowers off in contrasting or coordinating colors. I’ve used these in personal arrangements and they really are a standout! I will have at least six varieties ranging from deep burgundy to lime green.
- Stock Matthiola incana - Popular cut flower in a wide range of colors. Early Spring.
- Delphinium
- Sweet William
- Daffodils
That’s the beginning of the list. I’ll be back with more when I can make an inventory of my seeds and bulbs.
