Planted in: Garden Bloggers Bloom Day, What's Blooming
I’m jumping the gun and posting some pictures I took today during lunch. I have a full schedule tomorrow after work and will probably be exhausted and forget to post. Though not all of these are “blooming” they do add interest to an otherwise boring and soggy winter landscape.
Here we go:
A lovely little yaupon holly I picked up last week that hasn’t even been planted yet. The tag says ‘Native Yaupon Shadow.’ This is an important food source for birds in the winter, and it’s pretty to boot.
Dried hydrangea flowers.
Solidago (goldenrod) seed heads. I’m leaving these in the hope that they will attract the finches. These are growing along the fence line I’m taking down, so they won’t be around next year (I hope!).
Golddust Aucuba.
I took some more pictures, but they don’t seem to be in the mood to upload. Take a look at my Flickr Photostream or the slideshow in the right hand menu for more.
Thanks to Carol at May Dreams Gardens for hosting! (I’ll be lucky if I remember to head over and post my link.)

The Aucuba has great foliage, what a nice specimen.
Great to see you posting for bloom day! I love the Aucuba it’s a real showstopper.
I know! The foliage looks so tropical you wouldn’t think it would come back here. Supposedly it’s hardy to Zone 6.
I can’t wait to see these growing next to my Harlequin hydrangeas this spring.

Great to find another MS gardener on the web!! That yaupon holly picture is so pretty – it almost doesn’t look real!
