What I'm All About:

I also provide flowers to florists, grocery stores and caterers. For bulk orders, there is a minimum of $100 for delivery. Individual bunches and bouquets may be purchased at the Farmers' Market in Batesville, MS or at my location in Batesville, MS. Please call 1-888-601-5943 for availability.

Please feel free to send me an e-mail. See my About me page for more info. Subscribe to the Cut Flower Availability Feed via e-mail or the Farmers' Market bulletin via e-mail.

In my market research for weddings, I’ve come across dozens of articles that give advice to have a wedding on a “shoestring budget.” Articles such as these usually rub me the same way as articles on landscaping on a “small” budget.  Small, being between $5,000 and $10,000.  Seriously? I want to live a life where $5,000 [...]

Christmas is over, and the days are getting longer one minute at a time.  Everything in the greenhouse is growing and looking great, despite the high wind and freezing weather.  I’m putting together seed, plug and plant orders to send in, and fielding questions from potential customers.  2010 looks to be a good year.  I [...]

Whatever holiday you and your family celebrate this season, I hope it’s fantastic! My little brother is supposed to be home on leave from Iraq in a couple of days, so it may be a little while before I come back.  I will be visiting, eating, drinking, gardening, and being merry. Enjoy your time with the [...]

I never have enough soil.  I’ve bought bags, bought it by the yard and even made my own and I never have enough.  Since I don’t till, I have to rely heavily on compost for lasagna garden beds.  It tends to run out, even when I steal leaves from the side of the road. I [...]

As I sit and peruse seed catalogs, I think about several things.  As an avid  home gardener, I want to experiment with growing as many things as I can from seed, both in the greenhouse and through direct sowing. As a commercial gardener, I try to maximize my space and plant only things that will be [...]

I don’t think anything was killed.  The electricity blinked for a second last night while I was sleeping, causing the safety switch on my heater to trip. The temperature in the greenhouse was 30 degrees F this morning. Not what I wanted to wake up to.  All I could do was turn on the heater and [...]

  • Growing Agapanthus from seed

I decided to try my hand at growing agapanthus from seed.  I didn’t read any advice about growing them, lest I be disappointed in my own efforts.  I sowed the seed about six weeks ago, and I’m just now starting to see germination. Of eighteen pots, I have four sprouting. I nearly gave up on [...]

I’m jumping the gun and posting some pictures I took today during lunch. I have a full schedule tomorrow after work and will probably be exhausted and forget to post.   Though not all of these are “blooming” they do add interest to an otherwise boring and soggy winter landscape. Here we go: A lovely little [...]

I have bulbs to plant and brush to clear, so I was terribly disappointed when it rained all weekend.  I usually don’t mind working in the rain if it’s just a drizzle and the weather is warm.  That was not the case. Winter here isn’t frothy with snow, but it does get cold by my [...]
