Prior to four weeks ago, I had never ordered from Springhill Nursery before. They had some great deals on Vermeer lily bulbs, Magic Carpet spirea, muscari and crocus so I ordered 24 lily bulbs at $1 each, and 3 spirea on the cheap. I also got two packs of 50 each on the crocus and muscari. I’m stocking up for fall!

A week went by and I never got a shipping confirmation, so I started doing some research. I found literally hundreds of negative reviews about their customer service and the quality of their plants, and I began to get nervous. The positive and negative reviews are about evenly split. Another week passed, and the only thing about my order status that had changed was the expected shipping date – now a week further in the future.

After three weeks went by I gave up. I figured that I would either get them or not, then I got a shipping confirmation e-mail. Today when I went home for lunch, there was a huge box on my porch, which I promptly opened. To my surprise there were 24 packs of FIVE lily bulbs. FIVE. I got 120 lily bulbs for $24. They are all healthy with small sprouts and fresh roots. The spirea were packed carefully and are in excellent condition.

Aside from the delay in receiving my order, I have to say I’m very pleased with the service I have received from Springhill. I only hope the fall bulbs I ordered come in the same excellent condition this October!

By the way, they are still having a 1 cent sale, so check out their web site.
